Tomorrow at the Hegedorn Foundation Gallery (The Galleries of Peachtree Hills, 425 Peachtree Hills Avenue, Suite 25) for a day to be emerged in black history in the form of amazing art. This event is apart of the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. The exibition is titled Represent: Imaging African American Culture in Contemporary Art.
One of the attractionss will be a group photography exhibition dealing with the roots of black culture and thus personal identity. Includes bold, nearly absract images of traditional ceremonial hairstyles of Nigeria by Ojeikere; Demetrius Oliver's powerful portrait series documenting cultual influence on the individual usig surreal relationship between the subject and everyday objects.... but this is onl half the spice!
