The very first book for the month of July was The Translator by Daoud Hari. This book was an amazig piece of work about of series of personal accounts from the author durrng his experence with the Genocide in Darfur.
For those of you who have not read it yet, I wont go into too much detail about it, but it is definately something worth reading. The author gives heart wrenching details about rather grusome events, some would expect to produce mental impairments.
After reading this book, my curiousity struck as usual so I decided to do research on the genocide of Darfur. THis event was probably one of the worst things that could ever happen to a country, and what was even worst is that it recieved very little attention. Over 400,000 people were killed by the government. You would think that things such as these dont happen anymore, but that would be naive. THe genocide took place in 2003-2005. Recent, isn't it?
Look into the book. Spark your curiousity. Learn more and learn how you can help.
